About
Hello, I'm Kayla! I'm a Graphic Designer living and working in the Chicagoland area.
I first opened Photoshop my senior year of high school. I had decided to take digital photography as an “easy senior class”. I soon learned the class was more about photo editing and manipulation on the computer using this program called Photoshop. I had always been an arts and crafts kind of kid, but I didn't think that would ever translate into a career, unless I chose to be a grade school art teacher or something. After taking this digital photography class, I knew if there was a way I could incorporate this program and what it could do into my life's work, I was going to be really happy.
I’ve been in the design industry for 6 years now, working for companies ranging from single owner entrepreneurs to startups to companies that employ thousands. It’s these years of experience that have molded me into the problem solving, question asking, detail oriented, designer/art director that I am today. Nonetheless, I’m always looking to continue to grow my knowledge and skill set.
While design is a big part of my life, I have a life full of other loves too. I’m a giant Harry Potter nerd. I’m an animal rescuer and foster mom. (Ask me how many cats I’ve had in my house at one time!) I like to cook and bake. I like to dirt bike on the Michigan Manistee forest trails. I like to spend time outside: generally speaking but I love “tending” to my yard and trying to plant the assortment of flowers/shrubs my dad is always giving me. One of my greatest outdoor achievements is hiking the Yosemite Half Dome trail: 17 miles with 4,800 ft elevation gain. Coffee and donuts will never not make me happy. I like to do anything analog or hands on: letterpress, screen printing, paper making and more.
